Refund & Cancellation Policy
Last updated 27 October 2026
This policy covers payments made on ARTON: artwork bought from the wall (originals and digital files) and commissions. Clients only pay for commissions after an artist has accepted at an agreed price, and an artist is paid for a sold original only after the buyer has received it.
1. Buying an original artwork
- If the artist can't fulfil your order (for example, the piece was damaged before shipping), the order is cancelled and you receive a full refund.
- If two people pay for the same original at the same moment, the second payment is cancelled and refunded in full automatically.
- If the artwork arrives damaged or substantially different from its photos and description, don't confirm delivery. Message the artist and contact us within 48 hours of it arriving, with photos of the package and the artwork. We arrange a return and full refund, or a partial refund if you choose to keep it.
- Once you confirm delivery (or 7 days after it was marked shipped, if you didn't raise an issue), the sale is final.
2. Buying a digital file
Digital files are delivered instantly, so they aren't refundable once purchased, except when the file is corrupt, missing, or substantially different from what was described. Report it within 7 days through the contact page and we'll fix it or refund you.
3. Cancelling a commission before work starts
If a commission is cancelled (by the client or the artist) or declined before the artist marks it “In progress”, the client receives a full refund, including ARTON's platform fee.
4. Cancelling a commission after work has started
If a commission is cancelled once it is In progress, the client receives a partial refund that reflects the work already done (for example, sketches or drafts shared in the conversation). The artist and client agree the amount in their conversation; if they can't agree, ARTON reviews the conversation and decides fairly. If the artist cancels without delivering anything, the client receives a full refund.
5. After a commission is completed
Once the artist marks a commission Completed, payments are not refundable, except when:
- the work was not delivered;
- the delivered work is substantially different from the agreed brief; or
- the work is found to be copied or AI-generated when it was agreed to be hand-made.
Report these within 7 days of the commission being marked Completed, using the contact page (topic “Refund or cancellation”) and including the commission name.
6. How refunds are paid
- Refunds go back to the original payment method (UPI, card, netbanking or wallet) through Razorpay.
- Once ARTON approves a refund, it usually reaches your account in 5–7 working days, depending on your bank.
- You'll be notified on ARTON and in your commission conversation when a refund is issued.
- We don't charge any fee for processing refunds.
7. Failed or duplicate payments
If money left your account but the commission still shows unpaid, it is usually reversed automatically by your bank or Razorpay within 5–7 working days. If it isn't, contact us with the payment date and amount and we'll resolve it.
